About me

Picture
Somewhere between Faranah and Pita, Guinea.
This picture was taken on the road between Faranah and Pita, Guinea. We had just completed a stretch of road where the dust from trucks and taxis had been so thick that overtaking, and being overtaken, happened in complete blind faith.

I am a psychologist. My work often entails trusting my instincts, together with the instincts of those I work with. Believing that my blind spots will be illuminated by others, and vice versa. Ironically, it's usually only once I accept my blindness, that I become attuned to the real forces that shape my experience.

I am also an adventurer. Pulled towards the unknown by my desire to explore the interplay between our inner and outer journeys.

My work has been strongly influenced by the pioneering work of the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations and their international network of adventurers into the unknown within. People who dare to look below the surface. To use themselves as instruments to receive, contain and work with the difficult (often unbearable) dynamics affecting groups and organisations. Unafraid of turning the magnifying glass onto themselves, scrutinising their own contribution to that which bothers.

I try to follow in their footsteps.
